In his spare time Mr. Pyrford likes to talk to his students. He also likes to watch them perfect their fighting techniques, particularly those who major in the Art of Weaponry. Otherwise he can usually be seen asleep under a tree somewhere on the grounds, his huge axe standing at his side like a sentinel.

Physical Description:

Pyrford's eyes are distinctively cheerful, peering out from beneath his mop of greying hair. He has a sparse beard and a heavy build, his arms particularly muscular from many years of working with a battle axe. Light hazel eyes and heavy silver hair. He has a relaxed, slouching posture and usually leans on the axe handle while standing. His skin is fair and wrinkled around his eyes and mouth as a result of his easy smile.

Personality:

The name Hvergelmir means "Well of Life" and has its roots in Norse Mythology. Baldur was a cheerful God of light and harmony in that same mythology and the main teacher of History at YUME certainly reflects that. He likes to live life to the fullest and encourages his students to do the same. He takes a relaxed approach to class, but don't let that fool you into thinking his classes are boring. When teaching he often launches into speeches with a frightening fervour of excitement and an obvious love of his subject. He keeps his classes in check by dealing homework out with a liberal hand. His battle axe is always by his side, but he fulfils the stereotype of "gentle giant", though some of his students might argue otherwise. When asked personal questions he prefers to lead the questioner in a circle of riddles and nonsense instead of giving them the answer he knows they're after.

In battle he is fierce and mighty, but seldom holds a grudge. He'll always give his opponent a second chance to back out while making sure not to offend them by not taking their challenge seriously. While being a power-based fighter he is not without brains and strategy. Those deceptively cheerful eyes conceal a clever mind within.

Background History:

Mr. Pyrford is most at home in the Great North, whether that be the Territories of Canada or the ice deserts of Iceland, Greenland and Norway. The Arctic is where he was born and raised, but he is not without experience in the tropics. After completing his degree he was persuaded by some colleagues to travel to the South and explore a totally different kind of environment. While the beauty and lushness of those lands captivated him he knew his heart was still in the North and retreated to his home in the Yukon. No one is quite sure where his axe came from, but the ease with which he wields it demonstrates that he must have acquired it long ago. It seems that he has a wife back in the Yukon, but like most subjects (History being the one major exception) it is difficult to get a straight answer from him. He accepted an offer to take up a position at YUME on a whim, soon arriving at the doorstep of the Main Hall with snow still covering his boots.

He is respected and well-known among some circles of historians.

Strengths:

Power-Ability to be superhumanly strong, lift heavy things, wield heavy weapons like huge clubs, swords, bazookas and the sort, able to do power moves

Weapon Handling-Ability to use any weapon efficiently except ones mentioned in Gun Control(Unless you have both powers), able to use them in moves like sword slash, bo staff spin and such, be able to repair them or reload them if it's a weapon like bow and arrows, slingshot, crossbow and such

Weaknesses:

Pyrford tends to use his strength in order to overwhelm his opponents before the fight can progress too far. Contrary to popular belief the weight of his huge weapon does not slow him down in the slightest so speed is not one of his weaknesses. His axe is classified as a long-range weapon and he has difficulty dealing with extreme close-range fighting. He also has little defense against spellcasting, but is usually able to interrupt the mage before he or she is able to finish the incantation.

Equipment:

1. Battle Axe: A huge axe with a very keen edge and an ornate wooden handle covered in various runes. Depending on what runes are activated it takes on a different elemental alignment.
2. Mithril armour: A light set of armour forged out of mithril. Runes etched in its surfaces stand for protection, harmony, and sacrifice.
