Dash seemed completely oblivious to Andrew's discomfort. He sit in front of Floogster and smiled at the young mage.
"Yes, in fact there's a chant version for these spells. But they're slower and less effective than the versions you can summon with only the will. Besides, many of the strongest spells don't have a chant version."
"For fireballs and lightning bolts, these are the magic words..." The demon then whispered some words to Floogster. "But remember to always focus on your target as you say them, or you might hit the wrong person..."

As Dash was finished with that, he clapped his hands. "Well, I think this is enough for today. There're only 3 minutes left for the sign to ring, so you're all dismissed." As everyone got up, the demon raised a hand. "BUT you all will have to do some homework to exercise what we saw today."
With the snap of his fingers, Dash made scrolls appear on each student's hands. "These are some simple exercises about healing spells. I didn't talk much about battle magic, so we'll exercise that in class lately. And Mr. Floogster..." He gave the young boy a small white book. "...this is a text about general magic which'll help you understand how it works, so you won't have to rely on chantings... at least not forever. Consider it a present." The demon smirked. "Don't consider this part of homework. Most of what we'll see in class have a chating version. But you'll want to read this sometime in the future."
He finally stretched and shone, turning back into his human form after another flash of red light. "Class dismissed." He said and watched as each student left the room. |
