At a loss for words

Kiwara wondered what he should do. Everything was completely different. He was used to open fields of farmland under the warm sun. Now he was inside a hall that in his opinion was far too narrow. He didn't know what the word 'claustrophobia' meant, but if he had then he would have instantly recognized it as what he felt in that hall. Someone recognized that he was confused. The student asked "Hey, are you new here?"
Kiwara just stared with eyes of glass. His jaw was lowered, but no sound came from his mouth.
The student stopped to think of what to do.
