The noise! - Earagail

As soon as the alarm blares to life, Earagail flattens his earfins so that he can't hear. The first screech almost rips the delicate membranes. He holds on to his earfins just in case the vibrations seep through. Now he is in a world of complete silence. He looks around the room, gauging everyone's reactions. When the professor begins to talk, Earagail lets his earfins open slightly and hears what the professor is saying. He then turns to the cute girl beside him.
"What was that alarm about? I couldn't hear it." he says. "My ears are a little sensitive to loud noises."
She smiles at him and explains the situation. He smiles and thanks her, knowing what a smile means to humans. He turns his attention back to the professor to see what is happening.
