Noroke blinked in slight confusion as the blaring alarm sounded and the lockdown was announced. "A lockdown?" She said to herself in quiet contemplation, "I wonder what happened." As if to answer her question, her Luck Amulet that she always wore glowed a light blue for a few seconds before turning dim again. Noroke's green eyes widened in surprise as she stared down at the pendant; it only glowed like that when there was danger lurking near.
Suddenly, she sensed movement coming from behind her. Turning around sharply, she saw it was only Luggage, running with its several feet towards the library wall. It had opened a hole in the wall just big enough to let itself through. Noroke watched as the chest disappeared through the hole.
Sighing, Noroke sat at a table and pulled out a sky blue envelope from her pocket that was addressed to her. Her sister Kagayaku had written her a letter to read when she arrived at YUME and gave it to her before she left. Noroke's anxiety about coming to YUME had made her totally forget about the letter, but the amulet glowing had reminded her of the danger her family was in. As she missed her sister terribly, she thought that this would be the best time to read the letter. So settling into her chair, she began to read her sister's scripted handwriting. |
