Ulysses made his way down the hall to find the swimming area. He reached his destination and entered the pool area. He walked over to the corner where the sea pool was and then paused in surprise. Kneeling by the pool edge was a familiar person. Ulysses quietly crept towards the person, wanting to scare him. However, the person merely swept back his long silver hair and smiled at Ulysses.
"Hello Ulysses." Bwoshih said. "Break time?"
"Yes." Ulysses replied, shyly joining Bwoshih at the edge of the pool. "I thought I'd check on Killer."
Bwoshih smiled and paused briefly at the fin he was scratching. Ulysses' companion made a noise of protest. Bwoshih sent a mental apology and continued scratching the fin.
"She seems fine." Bwoshih noted.
Ulysses reached down and his companion grabbed his hand so eagerly that he would have fallen in if Bwoshih hadn't reached out and stopped him from falling.
"Hey Killer." Ulysses said with a smile.
His companion smiled back and nuzzled his hand. Bwoshih smiled at this.
"How was your first class?" he asked.
"Interesting and scary at the same time." Ulysses replied.
"How are you holding up?" Bwoshih asked softly.
"I'd rather be home." Ulysses replied quietly. "All these people, they frighten me."
Bwoshih pulled Ulysses into a half-hug.
"Don't worry about it Seas, you'll get used to it. You may even make more friends. Here people don't care if you're different or not." he assured, using the nickname he had given Ulysses this summer.
Ulysses nodded and joined Bwoshih in fin scratching. Killer made a sound of delight. Ulysses laughed and Bwoshih smiled.
"You going to be okay?" Bwoshih asked softly.
"No." Ulysses replied, and then smiled at Bwoshih's look. "But I'll try to be." |
