Percy smiled at her students as she finished up on the Egyptians. A discreet glance at her watch showed her that there were a few minutes left in the class.
"You may go now if you wish." she said.
The students looked at her incredulously. She smiled back.
"Go ahead." she urged. "I don't have enough time to start another lesson."
There were mumbled thanks as the students filed out of the room. Whri Mhaol hesitatingly approached Percy.
"Professor Holoman." Whri Mhaol began tentatively.
"Yes Miss...?" Percy trailed off.
"Whri Mhaol, Professor." the girl replied.
Percy's smile widened.
"It is an honour to meet you, Source of Life." Percy said with a brief bow.
Whri Mhaol stared.
"You know of me?" she said disbelievingly.
Percy nodded.
"Even a city such as Dubai has heard of Source of Life." she replied. "You wouldn't know because you are so closed off from the world, but all desert people, tribes or cities, know of Source of Life."
"Then you /are/ from the desert." Whri Mhaol said happily.
Percy nodded.
"I thought so but I was unsure." Whri Mhaol continued. "Don't you get cold here?"
Percy laughed.
"You will become used to it." she informed. "It's not as cold as you think."
Whri Mhaol nodded.
"Thank you Professor." she said.
"Oh, please, call me Percy." Percy insisted. "At least, outside of class time. I would be honoured to be a friend of Source of Life."
Whri Mhaol nodded.
"As you wish, Pro-Percy." she said.
Percy smiled.
"Farewell Whri Mhaol." she said. "May you always lead the way."
"And may you always have water." Whri Mhaol replied automatically.
Whri Mhaol smiled and left the classroom. Percy smiled to herself. She never thought that she would meet a Source of Life. |
