Memories that haunt one

As Holoman continues to talk about the Weak Hand Sect, Terry unconsciously begins to nod in agreement with her words. Suddenly Terry realises that he is nodding and quickly stops himself. He turns his head to see if anyone has noticed, but no one seems to have seen him nod, their attention is on Holoman as she weaves her tale. Terry continues to listen to the tale and his hand tightens its grip unconsciously in Kurama's hair. Near the end of the story, his grip tightens a little too much and Kurama quickly reaches a hand back to untangle Terry's fingers from his hair. Terry realises what he is doing and quickly relaxes. Kurama turns to look at him in concern and Terry nods reassuringly. Kurama returns his attention to the professor and Terry begins to remember the Kairee, a name long lost, now remembered as the Weak Hand Sect of Egypt. Terry remembers the Kairee very well, it is not something he will easily forget. He remembers the pain of losing his arms, of being the messiah of the Kairee, little Mlal.
Mlal had been a small woman, with that oh-so-familiar grey streak that seemed to pass on to most of Wererls' human selves. She had been the messiah of the Kairee, the only one who had lived to lose both arms and yet remain pure of body all her life.
The sudden question by Holoman shakes Terry out of his reverie. He shoves the old memory back and faces the professor. His hand absently plays with Kurama's hair again as he wonders if he should share any stories about ethics.
