Duo sat back and waited impatiently for the professor to return. When he didn't return immediately, Duo turned to Leena.
"Hey." he said, smiling. "You're Leena right? Terry told me your name, though I'm afraid I didn't get to properly introduce myself. I'm Duo Maxwell."
Before Leena had a chance to reply, however, someone entered the room. He looked like a human bat and had a rather bookish air to him. He looked a little nervous as he glanced around the room.
"Um, is Duo Maxwell here?" he asked hesitantly.
"That's me!" Duo said, waving his arm to get the bat's attention.
"A message arrived for you." the bat boy said.
He handed Duo the message before flying off. Duo shook his head at the odd kid before opening up the note. It was a note from the secretary regarding a phone call that had been made. Duo read the note once.
"Hey, that's great." he said with a grin.
He turned to Leena to tell her the good news when suddenly his smile faltered and he paled.
"Oh no." he said. "He can't come, not with...." |
