Kurama and Terry are reading the page assigned when Ms. Hinako suddenly turns back into her child self. She seems unconcerned about this so they go back to their books, although someone in the back whispers,
"And I thought I had problems."
Terry looks up suddenly and Kurama, noticing, looks up as well. A second later, a girl enters the room. Ms. Hinako notices the girl a few seconds later, engrossed in drawing happy faces on the board. She starts talking to the girl.
"Now that, caro, is a lady." Terry says, sotto voce, to Kurama.
Kurama smiles in agreement at Terry's apt statement. Terry glances over at Kurama.
"In love, caro?" he asks.
Kurama levels a gaze at Terry, who chuckles.
"You mean you aren't?" Kurama teases.
"Ah, you know you're my only love." Terry replies with a sickly sweet smile.
Kurama sighs and turns his attention back to Ms. Hinako and the new girl. To his surprise, Ms. Hinako tells the new girl to sit next to Terry. As the girl comes over, Kurama flashes Terry a warning glance. Terry's return smile is enough to convince Kurama that the tall boy is up to something. The girl sits down and Ms. Hinako gives her some instructions before returning to her happy faces. Terry turns to face Audrey and gives her a friendly smile.
"Hello." he says. "I'm Terry Dundee, and this..." He pauses and then, since Kurama is sitting in front of him, caresses Kurama's head suddenly. "Is my youko, Kurama."
Kurama shoots Terry an unreadable look before looking at Audrey.
"Hello." he says with a smile. "I'm Kurama. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name, but I'm afraid Ms. Hinako rather garbled it up." |
