Minako, her team, and Vash stood in the hallway. She looked at everyone seriously.
"Now, one of you is needed to protect assistant professor Vash." she said. "Does anyone want to volunteer?"
Vash made wild motions at Refractions, indicating that he wanted her to guard him. Minako deliberately ignored him.
"Now it can't be Floogy because we need him on shift. Vladmir, you just draw too much attention to yourself. And don't worry, it's not your fault. Ohta?"
"Me?" Ohta said incredulously.
Stulfut shook his head discreetly.
"I volunteer." Griffith spoke up.
"You do? Why thank you Griffith." Minako said with a smile.
Griffith smiled back. Vash's face fell. Griffith turned to the professor, who managed to gather a semblance of a smile. Minako also faced Vash.
"Now professor, Corporal Griffith will guard you for all hours that you are here. I can assure you that the Corporal is very competent and you will be well protected. If you have any complaints, just report them to one of us." she said. "Now we must get back to work. If you'll excuse us."
They all turned and walked off. Griffith stayed with a crestfallen Vash.
"Where would you like to go sir?" Griffith asked.
"Nowhere." Vash replied, wanting to cry.
First the insurance girls and now this. It was not like it would help. It was tough being a criminal.
