Terry and Kurama were about to leave the class when the doors burst open and a short boy stormed in.
"You!" he snarled, smiling manically.
He had long brown hair in a braid and blue-violet eyes that gleamed insanely. Terry and Kurama paused as did Sizer, who had been about to go over to the boys. The boy laughed.
"I got you now!" he crowed triumphantly as he launched himself at Terry, knocking him to the ground. The two wrestled on the ground. Terry tried to get up and was knocked down again. Fists, feet, and braids flew but Sizer found that her attention was drawn to Kurama, who was watching the fight calmly. Sizer was confused when it came to Kurama. The boy was much too calm for a goody goody, like most of these students were. He showed no worry when it came to his friend. Most good guys worried about each other, but he didn't seem to care. Curiosity overcoming caution, Sizer went over to Kurama.
"Aren't you worried about your friend?" she asked flatly.
"No." he replied.
"You aren't going to help him?"
"No. He will ask if he needs help." Kurama replied, gazing briefly at Sizer before turning his attention to the fight. Sizer was surprised at the total lack of emotion in his eyes. She suppressed a smile. Maybe she could get this boy to work for her. She turned her attention to the fight. It seemed to last forever. Finally the fight stopped and the dust settled to reveal the boy sitting on top of Terry and laughing.
"Gotcha!" the boy crowed.
"I yield." Terry replied, smiling.
He sat up and the boy gave him a hearty hug and clap on the back.
"How ya doing?" the boy asked.
"Not too bad." Terry replied. "You?"
"I'm good." the boy replied. "I haven't seen you in ages though."
"It hasn't been that long." Terry protested.
Kurama and Sizer wore near identical looks of confusion. Terry noticed this and smiled.
"I think some introductions are in order." he said.
The boy looked at the others and smiled brilliantly.
"Hello." he said. "I'm Duo Maxwell."
"Duo, this is Kurama, my friend, and Ms. Sizer, my professor." Terry introduced.
Sizer frowned at Duo.
"Out. All of you." she said suddenly, abruptly whirling away and flying off. Duo and Terry got up.
"You have to tell me what you've been up to." Duo said.
"You as well." Terry replied.
Duo smiled at Kurama and then winked at Terry.
"Is this your new teddy bear?" he asked.
"Duo." Terry complained mildly.
"I was his once too." Duo said confidentially to Kurama, who looked a little startled and confused.
"Duo!" Terry yelped, yanking on the brown braid.
Duo retaliated by yanking on the black braid and grinning at Kurama.
"He's trouble, isn't he?" Duo said with a wink.
He yelped suddenly in surprise as Terry picked him up and slung him over his shoulder.
"Let's go Kurama." Terry said.
Kurama nodded and followed Terry out the door. Duo yelled and threatened from his upside down position, his face turning slightly red. Terry marched resolutely down the hallway with a determined expression on his face. Kurama followed.
