Terry and Kuwaguma fight on. They have been fighting for a long time but neither of them is winning. Finally they mutually decide to call it a draw and stop. Terry smiles at Kuwaguma.
"Thank you. That was a great fight." he says. "I have not enjoyed a fight like that for a long time."
Kuwaguma smiles back and they both move on to other people. Terry catches Kurama's calm gaze and grins idiotically back. Then Terry notices the girl with the axe decorated with bows. His eyebrows raise and he motions discreetly for Kurama to look. Kurama looks and notices the girl. He nods at her briefly and turns back to Terry, who strides over.
"I think she'll beat you." he says.
Kurama gazes at Terry calmly.
"I think that man in red likes you." he replies.
Terry laughs.
"Everyone likes me." he jokes with an impish grin.
He turns to the girl.
"Beat him good!" he cheers.
Without changing his expression, Kurama gives Terry a swift kick in the shin. Terry yelps and jumps back slightly.
"Caro!" he complains, rubbing the injured foot.
Kurama smiles slightly and then affects an innocent look.
"I think you have a partner." he says.
Terry looks over to see another big beefy guy staring at him.
"Why is it always the big ones?" he mutters in irritation.
"You're too tall, they want the challenge. You know, the bigger the better and so on." Kurama replies.
" 'Things are seldom what they seem,
Skim milk masquerades as cream'." Terry says with a wry grin.
"Maybe you can kill him with your accent." Kurama suggests.
"Funny caro, funny." Terry replies with as sour look. "You have fun with your partner."
He walks over to the big guy.
"G'day mate." he says, deliberately emphasising his accent. "Terry's the name. Stone the crows! You're a big one aren't you. Well, this should be fun at any rate. So, let's have at it, shall we?"
The big guy looks at him, confused by the accent.
"What did you say?" he asks.
"Didn't you understand me?" Terry says. "Struth! No one ever does."
"You're an Auzzie, aren't you?" the big guy realises.
"Too right mate. And you're a Yank by the sound of it. You ready to wrestle with a croc?" Terry challenges.
The big guy growls menacingly and raises his broadsword. Terry responds by drawing his machete and scimitar.
"Right. Let's go Yank." he says.
The Yank charges. |
