"I wouldn't dare to argue with you," he told the bird, who bobbed its great head and itself settled in for slumber, the head tucked beneath one wing.
He removed the bundle and cage, setting the former carefully on the desk which took up a large portion of the room and the latter on the floor beside it. Then he threw himself down upon the bed. It sighed and gave way easily beneath his weight. Travel weary muscles and stiff joints protested the sudden movement before relaxing at the soft, spongy contact of the mattress. He closed his eyes in ecstasy. Yes, this would do. This would indeed do. His mage-light winked out as his eyes closed and he became senseless.
