Bwoshih stopped himself from turning at Erik's comment. Erik and Audrey and a few others were students from last year and not one of them seemed to get along still. The new students seemed rather nervous for the most part. A few, like the one boy next to him with absolutely close to zero talent in anything, had fallen in love with Bwoshih already, not realising yet that the professor was male. Bwoshih supressed a sigh as he turned his attention to the groups.
"Alright. Thank you class." he said. "I would like all of you to begin with the basic probe-and-shield technique. For those of you who look rather confused, probe-and-shield is when one student deliberately probes another until one gives up and declares the other stronger. You probe the other person with your talent and they block you with theirs. If you have more than one talent, feel free to use both. However, there will be no mental burnouts on the first day, am I clear?"
He made sure to send the message both psychically and verbally so that everyone would get the message. He also sent an extra pressure on Erik, who had a nasty grin on his face. Erik sobered quickly, like most of the other more sadistic students. The empaths looked rather frightened, but then again, they were always more sensitive. Bwoshih sent reassurance to the empaths, knowing that he would have to talk to them quietly once the exercise started.
"I also want you to rank yourselves in order of who defeated the most number of students in your groups when you are done. Please begin." he said.
The students turned to their groupmates. Bwoshih turned to the lovestruck boy.
"Now Henri, could you please join the empaths?" Bwoshih decided. "We'll have you start with them and then see how you do."
"Yes Professor." Henri agreed with a quick nod and shy smile.
He stumbled off to the empathic group. Bwoshih concentrated on the students, mentally noting who chose who right off the bat. Naturally, Erik challenged Audrey right away. As they students began to extend their talents, Bwoshih checked the power in the room, searching for the differences that would have to be dealt with soon. |
