Gateau's expression darkened at Leena's last words. Could this girl not be more polite to a teacher? This would not do. Restraining the urge to punch something, Gateau managed a polite smile at the girl, so offended by her rudeness that he didn't even flex his muscles again.
"It is not open at lunch today, miss." he said, stressing the today. "Because it is the first day of school and we haven't finished moving all the equipment into their proper areas. The gym director is making some last minute modifications so that no one will get hurt. The gym will certainly be open at lunch tomorrow. If you wish to complain about the gym not being open today, I suggest you go talk to the director. Her office is over in the corner there with the other gym offices. Now if you will excuse me, I must lock up the change rooms since someone obviously forgot to. Don't worry, I'll have the director lock up your change room after you have left for class so that you won't have to find one of us for the key. Please enjoy yourself, miss, but let others know that they can't use the gym yet if anyone else comes in. Thank you."
With that, Gateau walked off to his office and to find the director. |
