Physical Description:
Keele looks old. Not older than whatever, just old. His age is his most distinctive recognisable in his physical appearance. His clothes, desk, and other belongings appear ancient and covered with dust. He wears glasses with a very strong prescription atop his angular nose. His thin hair is a little bit too long to be called shoulder length and hangs limply where it falls. Despite his elderly appearance he doesn't seem to suffer from conditions such as arthritis or Alzheimer's (though his students wouldn't mind seeing him turn into an absent-minded professor). He is slightly stooped and reaches a height of 5'7".
Personality:
Keele keeps his eyes sharp when it comes to monitoring his students. He keeps the class in check with stern discipline and is often rewarded with top notch students. However, old fashioned and unchanging in his ways he doesn't really fit in with YUME's landscape. Fearful of his reputation students usually avoid his class like the Plague. He strongly believes in reciting things into memory and those who overhear his class chanting often joke that he's brainwashing them. Stern and formal when teaching, he's much the same outside of the classroom, often alienating staff and students alike. He doesn't care much for the opinions of others and when he's the teacher his word is law. NO matter how dry and boring his lectures are, don't dare falling asleep. Those who get on his "bad side" often find themselves in a world of pain and never make the same mistake again. Why? Strangely, those who do badly in his class begin to suffer from very bad luck (though some might consider merely getting in his class to be bad enough luck already!). Even stranger is the fact that some people actually prescribe to his ideals and form somewhat of a fan club.
Background History:
Keele grew up in a region of Germany where his parents studied strange seismic disturbances. He followed his father in pursuit of a career in English literature, but at first shared his mother's love of geology as well.
They were in that area because even though there were no nearby fault lines, and thus, no logical or scientific explanation, it had seen increasingly frequent and increasingly dangerous earthquakes over a very short time. His mother embarked on a quest to be the first to explain this great mystery and when she succeeded her husband was going to publish a book on her findings.
Unfortunately, the seismic activity did not have its roots on Earth and was instead a point of unstable convergence between two alternate dimensions as the result of someone's sloppy set up, or attempted set up, of a permanent Gate. Magic from one world leaked over to the Terran side which caused phenomenon called "Chance Circles" to appear.
Impossible to detect with the mundane equipment of the time, Keele's family situated themselves directly over top of one. The long term results were what would change Keele's life. His mother, mostly likely as a result of the foreign magic drenched earth, developed a strange and fatal disease and soon passed away. Following this his grieving father strove to continue the work of his beloved, but, sadly, met the same fate.
Before his mother died she sent Keele to boarding school on the southern border of Germany so that he wouldn't have to see her die. That was how it came to pass that he received news of his parents' deaths the day before his final exams of the year. What happened following that is a blur, but when a teacher who had such a record of successful students applied for a teaching position at the University of Might and Excellence he was accepted. Whether or not that will prove to be a good decision in the end remains to be seen.
