| I'm Collecting..... |
| Being a collector is fun! Of course as long as you collect things that you like..^_^ I have collected many things, mostly small things... I started with stamps...though it didn't last long...:( When I first travelled to Europe (to Germany and the Netherlands in 1998) I started to collect pins. One from each town I visited. Why pins? Because they are unique...especially those from the cities in Europe. Each city has certain symbol and usually the pin represents this symbol. So by collecting their pins, I also learned the symbols of different cities! On my second trip in Europe (Summer 2001, to Geneve, Italy, Nice, Monaco) I added my pins collections and started another collection: FOOTBALL TEAM SCARFS! Why football-team scarfs? Because I like football and want to collect something of it ^_^ and for sure scarf is a lot cheaper than official t-shirt! Rome was the right place to buy my first scarf: AS ROMA. Now I've collected 10 scarfs: AS Roma, AC Milan (2), Inter Milan, Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisabon (Portugal), Liverpool, and Bayern Muenchen. There's one more I would definitely have to add: Real Madrid scarf...too bad I haven't got any chance to go to Spain..so I'm still dreaming...:( (my friend is in Barcelona now...so I'm crossing my fingers, hoping she will remember to buy for me Madrid or Barca scarf..) Another collection that I first got from my trip to Italy is Ferrari's stuffs. Yes...I also like Formula 1 very much! Especially Ferrari...^_^ I had always wanted to have Ferrari's flag...so when I saw one in Venetia, I was very eager to get it! Unfortunately the flag was quite expensive so I had to rethink many times...When finally I decided: OK! JUST BUY IT!!!!....the shop had sold it to a little boy!!!! huaaaaaaa.....I almost cried...coz I didn't know whether I could find that type of flag again (there are several designs for Ferrari's flag...), just exactly the one I've always wanted! I was very happy when finally in Rome I found another shop selling an official Ferrari's flag...though it's not the design I wanted. What's funny is I finally got the longed-designed flag, not in Italy, but in Brussel! When I went to Brussel with my mom and sis, there's a shop exactly in front of Manneken Pis selling official stuffs of Ferrari! So now I have two flags...with two different designs and I also bought a small model (size 1/24) of Ferrari F1 1999-car. Actually I wanted to buy the 2000/2001 model..but it's sooooooo expensive! (Around 50-60 euro!). The model is so cool! On my third trip around Europe, this time to Prague, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, I couldn't add my pin collection. I dunno what happened, but pins in all cities I visited had become so expensive that I finally decided to buy small glasses instead, which were much cheaper. So now I also have some collections of small glasses with pictures of each city. My last collection is Euro-coin...^_^ I think almost all students living in Europe, at least most people I know in Delft, also do this. Starting from year 2002, as many as 12 countries in European Union are now using Euro-money, including Euro-coins. Euro coins consist of: 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euro. Each coin has two sides: on one side is the value sign (eg. a written 1 cent) and on the other side is a certain picture. Each country has her own pictures...some countries like Austria and Italy even have different pics for all coins! Some countries like the Netherlands and Belgium are not really creative...they have the same pic for every coin...which is rather boring...:( Coz every country has different pic for her coins, it's quite fascinating to collect Euro-coins. In most cases, the pics represent the symbols of the countries. For example, 2 cents of Austrian Euro has a pic of Eldeweiss...and the 1-euro coin has Mozart pic! Germany uses Brandenburg gate for her 10 and 20 cents-coins... next update: I'll put some pics of my collections in this page... |
