My name is John Dominikovich. I am 51 years old, married 31 years and have two sons 29 and 20 years old. I want them to have the same opportunities to earn union wages like I have. After high school I worked in the Steel Mills and was an active member of Local 65 Steel Workers Union until the Mills shut down. I am currently a truck driver for Cook County Highway Department. I have been with the County for twenty three years, eighteen of which I have been a truck driver and a member of Local 726.

I have been a Union Steward in District 5 for the past 3 years and have fought for the rights of my Local 726 members on many occasions.
Over the last ten years in the Highway Department there has been a steady decline of drivers. When I started we had close to 200 drivers, today we have
only 78 and the highway department is privatizing more and more work. This is
happening across the board throughout all of Local 726.
