*VOTE 2007*

To Local 726 Members,

My experience with the TDU has been a great one.  The Members are everyday working
people who choose to right the wrongs within our Union and work places.  Looking back
at the IBT elections, we see that there was not a slaughter at the polls.  Voter turn out was
very low.  This shows dissatisfaction throughout the Teamster Locals.  Members have the
right to good, fair and honest representation.  When this is not the case, it is our duty as
Teamsters to bring change.

The TDU’s first line of defense is educating Members on all levels.  TDU’ers believe an
educated and informed Member is the first step in making positive changes.  Their legal
and moral support is outstanding.  They are always ready to help.  Believing that once
members take control of our Locals, we can then work with employers about bringing
good work conditions, livable wages and good health care for members.  As for me
joining TDU, it was definitely a step in the right direction.

After reading this complaint we at FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE are once again disappointed that our current Union Officials did not do their jobs by stopping the incorrect way in which members were getting hired for the Water Department.  It clearly states in this letter that, had the rules been followed, this would not have been an issue. It took one of our Members who we would like to applaud to rectify this problem.  It is funny how a driver can stop the wrong hiring practices with one letter.  I’m sure our Brother and Sister Members are as tired as we are of doing all the work for our Present Executive Board.  It is time for them to start doing the jobs we pay them for instead of us and other Brother and Sister Members doing it for them.  They keep talking about their so-called experience, where is it?

This letter clearly shows us the non-representation and how unqualified our Present Executive Board is in doing their jobs.

To All of the Members of Local 726,

To all who have a concern with the FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE SLATE we are educating ourselves to better serve the membership. Yes we are taking classes for Business Agent, Contract Negotiations, Grievance Procedures, How to Organize and Labor Law. These classes are being taken by us, paid for by us to better serve our members now and when we DO get elected. We have the passion and the drive to see this all the way through. So just to inform all of our members no matter what is said or what little tactics that are played in this election, we from FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE are going to stick by you now and forever. We know what it’s going to take, we have what it takes and we have too many people that are behind us and supporting us to bow out or quit or let these other slates get under our skin. We started this together to do something for the membership, we started this together to ensure our futures. So whatever you hear or read unless its coming from us, do not take any stock, because the mudslinging has begun. We’re not going to take part in this mudslinging campaign for the simple fact our time is better spent serving you. Even though we are not elected officials yet we are still working to serve you. So let the mudslinging begin, we have big shoulders, and thick skin and we’re not going away. Maybe if some of these other slates including our present executive board put more time and effort into you, the membership, as they are into discrediting us, maybe our Local and the rest of the slates would be better off. We prefer to spend our time serving your needs, and finding solutions to issues that for years have not been addressed.

Respectfully yours,
   FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE SLATE
