7. GENERAL
UNION MEETINGS/CONTRACT MEETINGS
We at FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE SLATE cannot understand why the present Executive
Board would suspend our General Union Meetings throughout the summer months.
Especially because this is the busiest time of year for most of our members.
The City of Chicago’s raises just happen to come on July 1st of every
year. This year they received a 45 cents an hour raise so maybe the present
Executive Board thought by having these months it would be forgotten by the
next Union Meeting. Doubt it!! We see no reason to suspend the meetings and
we will have meetings throughout the whole year - guaranteed. We are also
going to reduce the Sergeant of Arms at the meetings because we feel this
is an intimidation factor and we just do not need to do that. General Meetings
are for Members to come and voice their opinions, their concerns and their
voices be heard. On our Contract Meetings proposal or
otherwise, we will have as many as 1 - 50 if needed. Without your input in
contract negotiations we will not be able to give you what you need.
