I was siting in my living room just the other night and I decided to turn on The Box ( what a mistake, do not try this at home ).Little did I know what I was about to witness. The program was about the genocide of Serbs and Orthodox priests that were conducted by the Ustashas ( fascistic miltia in Croatia, so called Independent State of Croatia, that was on the power in Croatia and Bosnia during the WW II, with the help of the Riech ). The first reaction of my healthy mind was "anti-fascist, anti nationalist program". Was I a fool.
I first suspected when the narator accused the refuge government of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia ( who were with the King at that time in the London but were later denied the return after the war, by the new rulers: the Communist Party ) for letting the genocides to continue. He blamed them 'cuz there were Serbs, Croats and Slovenians in that government. Fair enough, except one thing. The accusation was not against the government but against the mixing of these nations in one institution. That's where I got scared by the message of this narator.
This was falowed by some patriotic song full of "blood and honour" while in the back of the beautiful landscapes of Serbia ( I guess ) there was a Serbian flag with the text "With the faith in the God, for the King and country" ( well known slogan of the Serb nationalists since the First Balkan war in 1912 to present, yes even Bosnia ). Not to mention that we don't have a king and I don't even want to begin to speculate about the existance of the "divine master".
It was all folowed by the presentation of the Chetniks ( serbian nationalists, who were originaly members of the Yugoslav army, but later cooperated with German troops and Ustashas against the communist partisans) as a liberation army of Serbs and criticising the communists for spreading the propaganda all over the Serbia, about the new system and the revolution when "people didn't understood the new rethoric", and "they were so familiar with the old system and it's values" ( if you want to know how people on the country, about 90% of all the population, lived between the two wars in Yugoslavia, find a book, but you can imagine how does it looks like to live in some sort of a feudal-semi-industrial country ).
Then it came to me. This is just another pre-propaganda of nationalism and hatered in order to prepare the ground for another war. Maybe you don't know it, but that's how the sytem works.
I don't quite remember the TV program before the civil war in Yugoslavia, but I know that somehow I was pulled by that web of misinformation and almost became just another brainwashed nationalist. Lucky for me that I knew some Croats and understood that they are not some savage human killing mashines that are here to get me. And I was only 10.
But I remember another war ( or as some may proclaim "a humanitarian action" ) right here in Serbia in 1999. There was talk about the eventual bombing so it wouldn't be strange to expect all that propaganda through TV shows, patriotic songs, movies etc. And no one even gave a tought about it until the first bomb droped ( 2 miles from my home in Novi Sad, which is hundreds of miles from Kosovo and not in Kosovo, as BBC would report the bombings ). But the strange things started to happen when they started to show some old movies about the reconstruction of Yugoslavia after the WW II. ( those are movies about the "Working Actions" when people, during the 40's and 50's, started to rebuild rails, factories, roads etc. with no payment, as an act of good will ). We all tought this was funny, 'cuz the war was not comming to an end soon, at least politicians were firm and uncompromising, and there was no talk about the end of the bombing. But suddenly, just week or two after tohse movies started playing on our screens, the war stopped, and people were properly pre-conditioned to start working on rebuilding the destroyed lands.
After this example of 1999 I think that anyone can remember how the medias were spreading patriotism and hatered before every confrontation in any country. That just goes to show how the media is under the power of the government who are the servants of the big corporations and their actions and pretensions. The corporate fucks would plan a war and the governments would prepare the ground for the upcomming detruction and dehumanization and help spread the hate and ignorance. Human governments are in aliance with the power of greed against the whole human race and our planet. Therefore they must be stopped and the power will lose it's arms in the struggle against the people. Then when disarmed the power can be defeated as well and then the new age of reason can begin.
