| What is your spouse's training year? PGY4+ What is your spouse's area of training? Otolaryngology How many hours per week is your spouse typically at the hospital? 70-80 Does the hospital have a support group for spouses? no Would you recommend this program to other spouses? no What are the best rotations? Research-hours were more flexible than at any other time in the program. What are the worst rotations? Intern Year--but what intern doesn't complain? Does the program provide health insurance? Both Medical and Dental Describe the surrounding communities. Entertainment is limited to malls, movie theaters, restaurants, etc. Not much in the way of the arts. Unsure about schools. What else would you like other spouses to know about the program? Mnterns are not considered a part of the program which is dissapointing. The first year of the program you are on your own as General Surgery does not consider you one of their's either. The only social activities, functions, etc seem to be drug lunches/dinners, year end dinner, Xmas party, and one summer BBQ. If you need or want the social part of a community, you should look outside of the residency for it. |
