You Aren't alone in struggling to cope!  Each of us has come through this journey having to struggle from time to time.  Residency is truly a great adventure and there are many good times, but adjusting to moving and having our spouses absent can be difficult.

Residents enter into this journey with a network of other residents who are living through the training process together.  For the spouses the initial transitions can be difficult because we don't have that immediate support group.  Part of coping involves developing a new circle of friends to lean on and share the experience with. Explore your local resident spouse auxiliary.  If your hospital doesn't have one, you may find a lot of pleasure in starting a support group for spouses.

The residency years can be extremely challenging, but they pass by quickly.  Before you know it, you will be planning for that first "real" job.  As spouses, we are all in this journey together.
