Raccoon City - an American mid-west town, soon to be doomed.

Umbrella Incorporated - a multi-billion company, located in Raccoon City, involved in worldwide pharmaceutical production, but with a terrible secret.

July 1998 - the month it all began.

It all started in the outskirts of Raccoon City. Dead people found to be attacked by gruesome animals. The wounds found on a dead woman pointed, at first, likely to be caused from a fierce grizzly or a rabid wolf. Soon after that, everything started to look more mysterious. The mayor, Michael Warren, is forced to take action in order to solve these bizarre murders to calm the upcoming pressure from the citizens of Raccoon City.

"Special Tactics And Rescue Service" (S.T.A.R.S.) Bravo Team is put on the case. When they suddenly disappears without any trace, Brad Vickers, Joseph Frost, Barry Burton, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and captain Albert Wesker, all members of the Alpha Team, is sent in to investigate. They soon find the crashed helicopter from the Bravo, but everything is not right. The devastated corpse from Bravos pilot is the first thing they find inside. They spread out to find any surviving team-members but when Frost suddenly is attacked and brutally slaughtered by a dog-like creature, appearing to be somehow altered, the Alpha-pilot takes off, leaving his comrades in a deadly situation. Even more "dogs" join and surround them, and the team find themselves with only one option. To run. They make their way to a nearby mansion, and well inside, with the dogs locked out, they are safe.

Or are they really?

I cant help thinking back when Capcom first released RE to Playstation back in 1996, and we entered a new world of horror, wherein we were introduced to what we now think of as something that have always been there. But back then it was all new and refreshing for the game-industry. We, the players, were introduced to a bunch of characters, all well-developed and ready to kick some serious butt, but we were also introduced to a new kind of villains, both human and some more supernatural. But nothing was more developed than the background story that evolved during the game like a plague spreading, contaminating every little corner, touching everything. One were thrilled to read every little note and paper scattered all around, just to know more about what had happened and more about this Umbrella Inc. And as the story deepened, we were stuck.

And now, with the remake of this splendid game, Capcom reinvents RE and makes it even deeper and more satisfying to play. This is indeed Resident Evil as it should be. The game is pretty much the same as the original but it has those small moments when you find yourself to be dragged into this nightmare and must fight so intense that your knuckles turn to white and your pulse starts to beat so rapidly that it hurts. The story is bigger, more accurate and, most importantly, better. Enemies have been renewed and youll find both old and new ones during the gameplay. Overall, this game fits better in to the rest of the series than it did before and if you are a real RE-fan youll find only joy playing it over and over again. Especially when there is the possibility of playing the game, first with either Jill or Chris, and then with the other. But the fun doesnt end there - youll unlock harder levels and alternate gamestyles with a stalking zombie or other small changes within the game. So it is great fun, if you like to be trapped in a gloomy mansion with zombies and other monsters as your companionship.
