Hello everyone,
I will try to keep this updated often. There are a lot of interesting stories and events that I would like to share with you. I hope you enjoy them.
CF
First, Hunter has been on a trip with his babysitter and her family. She has been taking care of him since he was 2 months old and as she said to me, he is her baby too. He is part of her family and we want that to go on as long as possible.
Having said that, I was a basket case. I was worried about accidents, illness, and other issues. There was an accident here locally with a family going home, where the mother was driving and was cut off by a truck. A 5 year old was killed, the parents were in critical condition and an 11 year old had minor injuries. They were very far away from home. I can't get them out of my mind.
My weekend was quiet without the little turkey around. I actually had a day of rest on Saturday and I could get all my studying done in one sitting on Sunday. But I do miss him.
Hunter is due home today, 5/15/06. Please pray that they have a safe trip.
You can't believe how big Buddy has gotten. He is 12 and very smart. He is almost as tall as me and his feet are bigger. Finally, I don't have to worry about him steeling my shoes!!!!! (He never stole my dress shoes, just sandals and sneakers). I am very proud of him. He works hard and practices soccer hard. He is a good goalie and loves the game.
At one soccer game, he was playing with a badly infected cut on his foot. He played his heart out. They lost by one point. It was a penalty shot which is almost impossible to stop. Two different fathers from the other team came up and complimented him. They thought he was a great goalie.
Danny is now one of the Webelos. He is not one of my scouts anymore. I am a little sad that I wont have him but I think he needs to spread his wings a little. He went on his first solo campout. Daddy was over anxious because it rained and the tent Danny took was not waterproof (it will be soon). Daddy wanted to call or go over there to make sure all was O.K. I had to calm him down and remind him there were at least 4 capable adults and numerous boy scouts that could handle the situation. All was fine and he had a good time.
Danny didn't get to bed until after 3 am and therefore was worthless the rest of the weekend. He was downright sick on Sunday, but he is better today.
I am thanking God constantly for getting me into my last two classes. One was required for my ESL license. The other was required for my AIG add-on license. I went through several terrible weeks where both classes were closed and it didn't look like I would get them done in time (6/30/06).
I had to have the ESL done before they would add on the AIG and the last date all that work would apply was 6/30/06. After that the AIG classwork was not acceptable due to changes in the licensing procedure.
I kept calling, emailing and praying and I got into both classes and all should be done by the deadlines. Thank you God!!!! Only he could get it done for me. Thanks to Mom too for assistance when I needed it. I am so excited that I will be done soon.
CJ should be done too, by the end of the summer. He will have dual licensing in Business and Marketing and an endorsement in Computer Aps. We are praying that he will have a regular teaching job by Aug. He is working at Sylvan Learning Center - I probably will be this summer too. He has several leads on teaching jobs.
We have two cats. Kitty Bob, a female, who came to us as a stray found at a local church and Taco. Bud and Dan named Kitty Bob, don't ask. Taco got his name from Hunter. I played with the cat when he showed up at our house. Then I said "Come on gato, let's get some food." Hunter looked up at me quizzically and said "Taco?" It stuck. Actually Hunter calls him Taco Gato now.
Hunter is amazing with his linguistic abilities. He knows with whom to use his Spanish words. He will not use them with people he perceives wont understand (Anglos). With us he code switches (uses both interchangeably). I think he does with "Ma." He uses Spanish with me and a few words with the rest of the family. He is drawn to Hispanics. He will see dark haired, dark skinned and /or hear Spanish and go in that direction like a moth to a candle. He prefers it. I don't hear an accent when he speaks either language.
