Buddy was invited to be a People to People Sports Embasador. Read about it here.  This is very exciting.  If accepted he will go to Holland in July and play on a US team in soccer.  There were about 5 teams of 12-18 kids each who could have been asked to go and as far as we know about 5 were asked.  He and his friend Taylor, Taylor's mom Bobbie and I went to the info meeting.  They boys have to apply, then go for an interview.  At the interview they will bring and essay they have written, and 3 references from adults not related to them.  One of the references is from a coach. 

If they are accepted after the interview there will be several meetings on what to expect etc.  In July they will meet with the NC athelets and out of Raleigh (to NY I suppose) then on to Amsterdam.  They will be there for about 10 days.  Playing soccer, meeting other kids from all over the world, living in a different country.

Of course the whole thing is going to cost about $6,000 (including spending money).  Part of the experience is taking the responsability of raising money for the trip.  They give us many ideas on how to do this.  It will be interesting.

We are so proud of Bud.  He is worried he wont make the interview because he is a goalie.  He doesn't play other positions.  He's worried there will be too many goalies and they wont want to take someone who doesn't cross train.  I don't think he needs to worry.
