The boys are doing well.
Buddy, 12 in March, is in Boy Scouts. He loves it and will probably make his promotions rapidly. He does soccer in the fall and in the spring. He is playing spring soccer. his team is made up of mostly new players. He is the goalie and stops more balls than go in. However his defense players don't know what to do yet and they have lost 2 games so far. His coach is great and I have high hopes for the team. They will learn a lot. They have played several more games and are doing wonderfully. The got a bunch of late sign-ups and the team is looking much better. They held the State Champions to a 0-4 game. We were very proud.
He was in the play Oliver Twist as the second orphan and policeman. He enjoyed himself and wants to do it next year. The play was good.
He is in AIG (gifted classes) and loves the extra brain work. I am taking AIG licensing courses so that I can guide him to do more. It also helps Danny.
Danny is doing wonderfully too. He is 8 1/2 now and in 3rd grade. I was really worried about him until this year. He as mild speech problems and because of that has reading and writing problems. I was considering retaining him this year because the high stakes tests start in 3 rd grade but he made a HUGE turn around. I am so proud of him. He is very nervous about the tests. They are May 16, 17, 18. Please pray for him.
He is in cub scouts. He has moved up to Webelos so I will no longer be his den leader. He went on his first overnight campout without Mom or Dad around. He is growing up!!!!
He also played basket ball this winter. His team only lost one game and they were in the playoffs. They won the first game. However they lost the second game in double overtime. Their 3 best players fouled out. The whole team was very upset at losing.
He was in Karate until he chose to try basketball. He did well at Karate.
He wants to play soccer in the fall. He has been practicing when Buddy has practice, with some parents who used to play semi-professionally..
Hunter is a spitfire. He keeps all of us on our toes. He is 2 1/2. His babysitter speaks Spanish.; Hunter, therefore speaks more Spanish than English, but understands both.
The other evening Hunter was sick. I gave him medicine and he slept through dinner. When I got up in the morning I noticed the left-over rice was out and uncovered. I ask CJ and the older boys who had had a midnight snack. None of them had. I got out the chicken to make Hunters lunch and noticed that it was not covered the way I had covered it. I asked again who had gotten into the food. Bud said Hunter had brought the chicken into his room in the middle of the night. Bud also said Hunter had woken him up with the sound of the microwave buttons being pushed. It seems Hunter had gotten up around 4AM and was hungry. He got the rice and chicken and was trying to heat them up. Bud told him to put back the chicken. Hunter covered it up and put it back in the fridge. We are very much in trouble with this one.
He is very strong willed and opinionated. The World According To Hunter is how we live.
Hunter went to Atlanta with the Alvarez family (his other family- baby sitter) this past weekend (Mother's Day). We had a very quiet weekend without him. We can't wait to have him back but life will be chaotic and loud again.
CJ is done with his student teaching now. He will have his license as soon as he is hired. He is currently looking for a teaching position in Business and Marketing and/or Computers. He is working at Sylvan Learning Center. He has been teaching for two years as a teacher and assistant in ESL and computers. He is active in Scouts with the rest of the family and is still an avid hunter.
We also have a new cat. The boys named her Kitty Bob. Don't ask. She was a stray at a local church. She is not used to loud children yet... We now also have Taco, an outdoor male cat too.
