Katie's View

In this song, Andrew says, "my current girlfriend who I was just totally head over heels [with], it didn't look like it was working out." Although he was totally in love, the girl just "couldn't seem to want [him.]" But, after writing this song which "couldn't have been any more true," the girl decided to give Andrew a second chance after all. Nothing like a beautiful song like this to win back somebody!! *sigh* I love happy endings! And I just wanted to clarify the whole "chesire cat doorstop" part in the song. I think Andrew is using the chesire cat in the sense that the cat would always be at the turning points of everyone's life to show them the many possible paths that they could turn onto. Symbolicly, then, Andrew is saying that his girlfriend would always seem to be right out his door, trying to figure out where to go next.

The Truth To The Song
Yeah, that's right. This is the whole TRUE meaning of the ever so deep chesire cat symbol of the song. If you would like to stick to the whole Alice take on the song then, STOP, DON'T READ AHEAD!!!!!!!! If not, don't be afraid.

Andrew actually had a Chesire Cat Doorstop, which was a ceramic piece from Alice in Wonderland. But, there's still some symbolism behind it in how the Chesire Cat would always close doors that otherwise would have been left open.
