Katie's View

Although I think this song is pretty much straightforward, here goes!! I think this song puts Andrew in a position that he doesn't want to be in, breaking up with someone. Throughout the song, he seems apologetic to that someone, saying that "perfection ain't perfect" and so on. He also gives hints that he is in this situation a lot by adding "I find this all the time" about "leaving" people. When he says "they're closing down the Caldecott Tunnel, so tonight I'll dream she's the bridge" I think he is suggesting that metaphorically the tunnel, which would be his way out, is closed. So, by making his girlfriend "the bridge" he must cross her and explain how he feels in order to get where he wants to be, out of the relationship.
