Check out this new update from Josh...ahhh meanness!

311 gets revenge (last day pranks)
"Hello all,
Well Something Corporate got spanked today. Plain and simple. As we took the stage on the last day of the 311 Unity tour almost every member of 311, G. Love and Special Sauce as well as their crew were present to watch us as we were meesed with in ways we would not wish on our worst enemies. Some highlights included KY jelly on our drumsticks and picks, Pornagraphic pictures decorating our stage, Vodka in our water bottles, and shots of Jagermeister after every song we played. I have to say, we took it like champs. If you are able to get any footage of brian's drums being taken away during "hurricane" as well as the silly string attack, cherrish it with all your heart. As lame as it is to get messed with that much, it makes us all feel like we really made an impact on this tour. We are so stoked on all the friends we've made as well as all the great memories we have had from this tour. We want to thank 311, G. Love and Special Sauce, and O.A.R. for being awesome bands but more importantly being awesome people.
Home Tomorrow!
Josh"

The headlining tour dates have been posted on the Official Site along with this update from Josh:

Headlining dates are being posted
"Finally, after much stalling our headlining tour dates are being posted. Most of the tour is up on the site in the events section though there is a last week that is waiting to be confirmed along with a couple shows on the east coast. If you don't see a show near you we're hoping to do another run in late winter/early spring to play a bunch of markets we weren't able to get to on this run. We are thrilled to be on the road with Rx Bandits, Mae and Days Away. They are all great bands. We know we've been doing a lot of support slots lately and we have been looking forward to this for a while so hopefully we'll see you there."

Update from Andrew:

A great day off in Austin
"Whats going on everyone. Thought I'd drop a line. The tour is close to finished now and we're anxious to be home. It always seems like the end of a tour is a crazy catharsis. We had a great night off in Austin when a bunch of the guys from the bands and the tour personnel all went out to the same bar together. It really made me think how lucky we've been to be on the road with such cool bands and their equally amazing crews. I won't deny though, I'm ready to be home, even if it's for a short time and even if we'll be busy for most of it. On a bit of a somber but inspiring note I saw an unbelieveable documentary on Warren Zevon last night. He's a legendary singer songwriter from the 70's I never knew much about. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer, given 3 months to live, and decided to go into the studio with his remaining time and record a new album to celebrate his life. It was such an incredible testament to human spirit and I'm not sure why I felt the need to post it here, but I was moved and guess I had to share it. If you get a chance I think it's still showing on VH1, though I'm not positive. Anyway take care of all yourselves, sorry to sound like a downer. I leave you with a qoute..."Enjoy every sandwich" Warren Zevon...on life."

Elise made some really cool new journal icons that you should go see, and I've made a new AIM icon. Also, I have made a BRAND NEW MIDI! It's of Space. Go listen to it. NOW.

Okay, where to begin. I added six journal icons that I made, two interviews (one is a video!), a review of Leaving Through The Window, a link to my personal MIDI page, and something very special in the Humor section. It's a music video that will make you piss yourself. Also... I don't know why the tagboard is down. I hope it'll be back up soon; I like reading what everybody has to say. Keep sending me stuff to put up! And now, an update from Andrew.

Almost over
"Hey all, well, we're down to 10 more days on the tour before we finally get back home. On the agenda: Shoot a video for space and celebrate my 21st birthday. All very exciting. Last nights show in PA was so amazing. It was hot as hell, but there was such a great vibe in that little room. New York was a tough night as some of you may already know, but I must say to see how many people came is enough to forget it was tough at all. talk to you soon -andrew"

Hartford Rules
"Whats up y'all. Sitting here outside in waterloo nj listening to 311 (Gotta love wireless internet). Thought I'd take a second and check in with everyone. We had the best time at last nights headliner in Hartford. It so cool to get to play a 15 song set, especially when the crowd is as awesome as last nights. Damnit, it was hot though. I swore my legs we're gonna give out halfway through, but somehow I caught my second wind. We hope you guys had fun, we know we did. Afterwards we got some hillarious footage of our band and crew beating the crap out of eachother with wiffle ball bats, it was truly entertaining. Jersey, was awesome tonight. I got in a little shouting match with a heckler, which I was kind of mad at myself for, cuz I try not to let that stuff bug me. The jersey fans put him in his place though, and I apologized and life went on. I guess Brian hit him with a drumstick...Oooops:) I'm sure he didn't mean it (Cough Cough) take care and we'll talk soon."

I was kind of surprised that he didn't mention the blackout at all... I was thinking that people wouldn't be able to get out to that show because of the traffic or whatever, but I am glad that it worked out for most people.

Becky
August 15, 2003
I'd be at my Something Corporate concert right now, had the blackout not gone and ruined everything. Anyway, I'm going back to New York tomorrow. This tour is kind of starting to wrap up... I hope everyone is enjoying the shows!

Here goes an update from Andrew:

Thanks NH
"Well, tonight was another cool show. We were so stoked to see something corporate fans in a state we've never toured through. Thank you new hampshire for rocking so hard. I'm excited for the upcoming headlining shows in Lancaster and Hartford. The word is that the lancaster show is already sold out and hartford is close so get your tix soon if you plan on going to that one. It sounds like we'll have the first couple weeks of dates for the headlining tour posted by tomorrow or the following day and the rest will follow shortly after, so keep your eyes on the site. Just wanted to add, a big thanks and goodbye to the guys in O.A.R. We've had such an killer time hanging out with them on this tour and we're sad to see them go. We wish them the best. Well, I've caught a bit of a bug out here so I'd probably better get some sleep. Take care internetland."

An update from Andrew:

Raining in Cincinnati
"It's definitely coming down here in good old Cinci, but either way we're looking forward to the show tonight. It's been an eventful few days. Thanks to Arvis our tour manager we spent our day off in Kansas City getting our asses kicked in paintball. I'm sure someone has posted about this by now, but I have to apologize to my bandmates and the OAR guys for sucking so miserabely in our many games that day. Other than that the shows have been really cool of late, Josh broke a string right before the jordan solo in Iowa and missed the whole thing, which was pretty amusing, and of course the sustain peddle ripped out of the bottom of the piano yet again. I'm really hoping this piano survives the rest of this tour. Minneapolis was a really awesome show, I think it was actually the biggest venue we have ever played in...kinda crazy. It was good seeing everyone at last nights st. louis show, though it really made me miss the mississipi nights gigs we've played. I really hope we play there this fall. Anyway I'll quit rambling. By the way I'm too lazy to spell check, so be warned :)"

Also, I know that a lot of people find the new Official Site to be a little confusing so I was able to locate the URL for the old site. http://somethingcorporate.mcarecords.com/ It still shows the diary updates, and includes the band member biographies, which cannot be found on the newer site.

Hey, everybody! I just wanted to share with all of you something special that Alicia sent it to me. It is an original message that Andrew wrote on the Yahoo! Group board concerning the song "Walking By" and it's inspiration. Enjoy!

"Hello my friends, I have arrived with the latest news. I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of july. Well, heres what we've been up. Without getting to personal, I had a situation arise in recent weeks where I fell for a girl. It's been tough and I guess I've found that falling does not always leave you fallen for. Either way I wrote a song about these difficult days, called "Walking By". In playing it for the band and others, we've decided we will add it to the EP and round it out with a ballad. I'm sorry for being such a sap, but I'm sad and tired and for whatever reason, you guys feel like a really safe place to go. It's late and I look around this apartment at my band resting hard after our first greulling studio day, and I know why I do this. These are not only amazing individuals, but they are hard workers and my closest friends. We are all so blessed to be where we are today, and the best part is we know it. We are so happy to be in the process of creating music for ourselves and our fans, that we can barely contain our joy. I suppose in the end my girl troubles seem to lack merit, and I'm sorry if I've come off like a marter. I am truly without a platform for complaint. Thank you all for listening. I can't wait til the 19th to see you."

Some updates from the Official Site:
311 Tour by Josh
"Hello all,
We are at the mid-point of the 311 tour. So far the shows have been awesome. OAR and G. love have been amazing and great guys to hang out with. We wanted to remind you that we are the first band on every night so try and get there early."

SC and O.A.R. at WAR!!!!!! by William (WOW!)
"So, this is my inaugural entry on our website. I hope that my writing skillls haven't been too diminished by dropping out of college and joining a rock band. I know that my math skills have.
Anyway, back to the point. Two days ago we had a day off, and our benevolent tour manager Arvis set up a day of paintball for us. Our new friends in O.A.R. came along and we had 3 or 4 battles between the bands and our crews inside these amazing limestone caves in Kansas City. Let me just state the obvious...the crew won. In fact, they kicked our butts. If you see us, ask to see our bruises, or should I say welts. Clutch's are by far the most impressive. Anyway, thanks again to everyone who's come out to these shows. It's always great to go out to the merch booth and see familiar faces and a lot of new ones too. Hope to see you out here soon!" -Will

Okay, I know that a lot of you have been asking questions recently about the whole 'Chesire Cat' reference in the song "Walking By." So, I put what I thought of it all under the song meanings link to help out. Also, I was going to post a new video interview involving the guys, but Casey beat me to it so visit simplysoco.com to download it. That's about all the updates I have for you now but keep checking back for hopefully some more tomorrow. Have a good night.

It must be easy to tell that I have been bored lately because of all the updating I've done to our humor section! Anywho, if you haven't already, then go right ahead and visit the humor page to see all that I've added to it. Hopefully, you will like it. Also, I have added Meg's point of view to the song "Hurricane" on the song meanings page. If anyone else has anything to add to that page or to the site in general, just email it to me. That's all for now so have a great day!

I have a fun update for you guys! It's something new that I added to the humor link made by Sarrah and I so make sure you see it! I also put up a song meaning for "Mulligan Goes To War" straight from Andrew's mouth! Read it if you have a chance.

Also, here's a new update from Andrew:
"Hey everyone, just finished the gig in chi town and wanted to check in. It was great the Chicago crew tonight. The venue was enormous, which can be a real trip but our fans have not failed us yet on this tour. You guys have been so great to us. I'd say playing in arenas and amphitheatres, as a support band, may be the most difficult thing to do, but having so many people come and make noise for us has made such a huge difference. Yesterday was a tough show, because the sustain peddle broke off of the piano during the first song, yet our fans somehow even managed to get me through that.(Thanks Cleveland). One way or another thank you. We are really lucky to be on this tour reaching out to new fans, but we just want all of you who've been following us continuously to know that we feel so blessed to have you as fans. Keep your eyes on the site for new tour dates, including a headlining tour of the U.S. this fall, with some really amazing bands. Side note, we are about 2 mixes away from a finished record and I'm getting really excited to put it out there. I won't deny I'm a little nervous to see what everyone thinks, but I know were all really happy with it, so hopefully you'll feel the same way. Sleep well and I'll talk to you soon."

Okay, here's an update about all the songs people have been asking me about. First off, if you missed getting "21 and Invincible" and "Miss America" the first time around, visit simplysoco.com to find them. Also, for now "Space" is available to download if you right click, save target as here. I can't promise that it'll be up for very long, though, so hurry and get it if you can. In addition to all of this, the Official Site now has half of "Down" and "Space" to sample. I hope that this has answered many of your questions. Take care.
