Bio: Lalandra DelMarco had been a beautiful and prestigious woman who only spent a short time in Vantorta, selling precious jewelry, hand woven blankets, and many different types of antiques. In her short stay there she had met Bartholomew Bower and like so many other woman had fallen for his charm. Although the affair was short Lalandra would return to her home land to find that she would indeed bare a child from her lover. One cold winter night, Salina Jade DelMarco was born, although never to know the truth of her father or the other half of her family.The child grew up with her mother in a middle class society so to speak in a small Manor house within the outer plains of a small village called Calais. Although the young girl grew up with most everything she could have ever wanted and a caring family made up of her younger brother, mother, and grandmother she often found herself wondering about her father. She would watch the other children with their daddies and hear them talk about them in school, but no one ever talked about hers, not even her mother. Whenever she would ask her family about him she would get the cold shoulder and none of the towns folk seemed to know anything. The lies behind their eyes were evident to her, but for one so young she could do nothing but bare the burden of unknowing.
Salina was a quiet child who was always well behaved and well mannered, when only a baby she never cried much or caused a disruption like the other children. As she grew up nothing much changed, the girl was always day dreaming and keeping to herself, nose stuck in a book or engulfed by one study or another. She was indeed the most beautiful of children in Calais one of the only with dark brown hair and hazel colored eyes. The other town folk born with blonde or white hair and blue or green eyes, she was defiantly the odd one. While all the towns people knew each other and conversed in the streets Salina paid none of them much mind unless it could not be avoided or there was a question her family could not answer.
Through out the years of her life she was offered an education, due to her mothers success as a merchant and school teacher, but she would pick up the study of elemental magic from a priestess in Calais named Adriana. Salina being the only female in her home, other than her mentor, capable of such power often made her the attraction of every young male suitor within her village. Each was turned down one after another, kindly, but never given a reason. Many of the towns people said it was a hatred for men due to the absence of her father or knowledge of him. Although Salina never spoke of her feelings to the men who called upon her or anyone for that matter, it was indeed the very reason she never took a husband.
Eventually her entire family fell ill with an unknown sickness brought by a batch of those hand woven blankets her mother had sold for so many years. No cure could be found and two weeks before her twentieth birthday her family passed on leaving her with nothing and no one but Adriana.The manor house was seized along with her families belongings and estate and Lana for a short while stayed with her mentor completing her studies of the elemental magic. Finally when Adriana could teach her student no more she gave the last bit of information she could... An answer to the question that had been plaguing the young girl now a woman for so long.
Adriana told Salina all about her mothers trip to the distant city of Vantorta and of the charming aristocrat, Bower, Lalandra had met and coupled with. The priestess explained about her mothers quick get away and the unexpected birth, finally revealing everything she knew to the young woman. Knowing she to did not have much time Adriana gave her only horse and carriage for travel and a map that would show Salina had to find Vantorta, including a sealed letter with the same crest that Lalandra had sealed her love letters to Bartholomew with.The parchment explained everything that had happened to the girls family and the information that had just been shared between the two about her long lost father. It asked for them to take her in and give her student and beloved friend the completion she had been looking for her whole life, something her mother had never shared....
