Special Ability: Weapons wielding. Bio: The B r o t h e r . Mathias Bower was always "the brother," despite being the fraternal twin of Lucian Bower. His fault was being born minutes after - forever placing him second to his "older" brother. Their father, Bartholomew Edmund Bower, very much favored Lucian over Mathias and didn't bother to hide it. He doted upon his eldest son, his heir, his golden child, while the other faded into the background like he'd never existed - he was raised more by servants than his own father. Their mother - well, that's another story. Bartholomew Bower was...famous for his good looks. Of course, women swooned over him, and - of course - he took full advantage of that. Well known for having a new woman for every day of the week, one of them conceived. Well, she wasn't the first. But she was the first to leave them at Bartholomew's doorstep. Her name was never known, but everyone suspects Mathias inherited his looks and his attitude from her, for it seemed Lucian had inherited most things from Bartholomew - including that promiscuity. From the start, Mathias proved to be his twin's polar opposite - distant, quiet, introverted. It wasn't that he was shy, it was that he'd never learned to properly converse with others, and because of his silent demeanor, most others thought him stupid. Mathias was never stupid; he was just as smart and clever as his brother, even not more so, and anybody who really got him to talk would know. But he had very few friends and didn't seem to mind it that way. His closest, in fact, was his brother. From the beginning they seemed almost inseparable, Lucian protecting Mathias when he didn't retaliate to other children teasing him, though Lucian could have easily been one of those children once his back was turned. The fact was, they were close brothers, despite their...dramatic differences. So, Daddy never cared. Although Mathias would never actually show or tell anybody, he was deeply hurt and angered by that - all the affection and attention sprinkled on Lucian and not he. He was treated almost like a peasant around them. He was treated like the black sheep of the family - though, he actually was. The Bowers were infamously loud-spoken, very nearly obnoxious. But an extremely wealthy family they were for Bartholomew's involvement in politics, plus the line of riches that stemmed from their ancestors. The Bowers were merry folk, loved to indulge, yet betray them and they'd never forget it. An infamously wrathful bloodline. Mathias was much different. Always silent, always distant, stoic, cold. He never got close to anybody but his brother (which, now that he was twenty-eight, was quite shocking that he'd not been married off or even seen with another woman), despite hidden resentment of his much greater power and influence. While Lucian received the best (though, Mathias did too, but not in quite an enthusiastic manner), Mathias focused his skills and his life around...swords. Blades. By the time he was a teenager, he was a highly skilled swordsman and swordsmith. He didn't care about wealth, women, or power - he did what he did best: fight. Well. Whom he could. Mainly sparring and such, but all hours were spend around glistening blades. And soon not only that; he trained himself in archery, bows and crossbows. But his passion remains swords and always will be. It seemed to help him forget most other things. Then, good ol' Daddy died. Mathias had been away for a few years, traveling and fighting (fighting had taken over his entire life at this point), when Bartholomew passed. The cause was said to be of "natural causes," but Mathias doubted this in a healthy, fit man in his late fifties. He returned home, again reunited with his twin, though now the difference between them showed the most: the heir had inherited the throne. Lucian was now at the top, known far and wide, and loved by all. Mathias slid unnoticed into the background, as usual, but kept an ever-watchful eye out. His skills and protection were needed here more than ever, and if Lucian wasn't looking out for himself, Mathias would. Sometimes it seemed Lucian was the more stupid twin, didn't it?
