Bio: So far as Blaze knew, the rest of her family was uncivilized. Drinking, fighting, and having pre-marital sex. Her life was completely the opposite. Her father, brother to Batholomew Bower, had married young and settled away from the city in order to keep his family away from said partying and fighting. It wasn't but a few months after Karston and his wife settled that their first child was on the way. They were in love, and it showed plainly.Blaze Shiri Bower was born to Karston and Allison Bower on their country estate in the hot summer month of July. Her life was full of entertainment what with the household staff giving her attention any time her mother and father needed a brief break. And, by the age of three, another Bower child was born into the family. Emily Jane would soon grow to be Blaze's best friend and 'partner in crime'. Raising hell on the ranch happened to be their favorite task; whether it be leaving surprises for the maids in their beds, or overflowing the watering tanks out in the pastures when their father took them to feed.
By the age of five, it was well known that Blaze would be studying in white magic. Her greater goal for goodness glowed with everything she put her attention to. A natural caretaker, she tended to cuts and bruises on her younger sister and enjoyed learning from the household staff about how to treat a common head cold. Brilliant and studious, Blaze soaked up all there was to learn about white magic and the general medicine practices of the day. It was a wonder she fell ill around the age of ten after causing a raucous in the hen yard; she fainted in front of her sister and when the doctor visited to diagnose the sickness, he merely stated she had a weak heart.
From that day, her life was changed. No more long trips into the fields to pick berries, nor chasing the cows around on branding day. Her days were spent inside, or on the porch, studying. Soon, the attentions of gentlemen callers became more and more frequent as her beauty was one unlike those of the area. A healthy and generally normal life was enjoyed by Blaze until one day.
Blaze had taken a trip with her fiance to visit the nearby lake; the day was hot and the air thick and heavy. It was late in the evening that they returned and noticed a dull orange glare as they approached her home. As they came closer, it became evident that the glare was not just a camp fire near the home, but that the entire home was on fire. Neighbors had been dousing it with water from the well all afternoon and were quick to realize their efforts were proving useless.
A will had been written that Blaze would be escorted to Vantorta and live with her cousins until she was married. Only then would she inherit the full fortune of her family. A relationship broken, family lost, Blaze made the trip to Vantorta. Heartbroken. It would yet prove to be a miracle if her already weak heart would survive the recent tear.
