Defining Features: Salem has almost cat-like eyes (slit pupils), pointed ears (left filled with earrings (25)), white hair and retractable fangs. Job: Wanderer / ? Weapon: Scythe Abilities: Can extensively use fire, black, non-elemental, and psychic magic, as well as summoning (though he�s not a master of the art). He has super-human qualities and being demonic in nature, he is an excellent fighter, and can travel between dimensions at will, as well as bend dimensions with but a thought; he uses this talent to his advantage especially in battle. Personality: Quiet by nature, Salem is often reluctant to speak unless absolutely necessary, or if he feels like it. Salem is often seen as a reserved, cold, even emotionless person, though unlike Malachi, Salem does have emotions, but keeps them to himself and rarely displays them openly. Salem appears to only have a few emotions, emotions that are often very basic for a demon: survival, anger, and fear, though he has the potential to gain more �advanced� emotions such as: hatred, cruelty, rage, sorrow, happiness, and even love. This is all depending upon the life experiences of the Saenu, and how others interact with him, which are often �unpleasant� experiences. Since being a demon, Salem would automatically be hated and outcast from human society (and all other forms of society) if his true identity were ever revealed. But, due to his murdering of other demons and how he seems to �side� more with humans, he is also hated and has been outcast by demon society as well. So the demon pretty much is alone in the world, hated by the humans who he sometimes protects because of his demon blood, and hated by his demonic brethren for siding with the humans, hunting down and slaughtering his kin. Past: Little is known of Salem�s past, since the demon care not to �open up� or reveal any personal information about himself to others. Though the most that the demon has ever revealed about himself and his mysterious past was to a young human boy whom he rescued twenty years ago, when a flood of demons invaded and completely destroyed the young boy�s entire village. Perhaps the child�s innocence influenced the demon to speak of his past upon the child�s inquiry, or something else altogether, but whatever it was, the demon revealed but a glimpse of his past to the child. Salem came into existence as a demon, a special demon known as a Saenu, or dimensional demon; which was a very rare species (see Demonic Hierarchy for more information), and as such, there were relatively few other of his kind for him to interact with. For most of his life Salem was alone, save for his companion, Clesek, who was a member of the Garryidan species (crow-like creatures bound by a blood pact to the Demonic Hierarchy). But after the Arimir (fanatic demon hunters) killed Clesek, Salem was left completely alone and relatively helpless without his companion�s guidance, so he was easy prey for the demon hunters that sought to capture him. For one thousand years Salem was held captive by the Arimir and experimented upon, the demon�s DNA being used by the Arimir to create new genetic experiments that could be used as weapons to destroy the demonic plague. But one day, Salem was finally able to escape from captivity, though he was hunted down like an animal, ironic for the people that he had tried to save so long ago. Though Salem never told his whole story to the child, he did inform the child that he managed to escape from the Arimir...but at what price? Apparently something rather disturbing that occurred within this time is causing Salem unrest now. |
