| 1 - Auburn Auburn & OU are pretty evenly matched, but the Tigers beating LSU & Tennessee weighs heavier than OU beating Texas. Don't agree? LSU beat previously 12th ranked Florida & Tennessee beat previously 3rd ranked Georgia last weekend. 2 - Oklahoma Okay, I didn't know OU was this good. Their D is once again among the best in the nation and this year they have a running back to complement an improving Jason White. Peterson is, in my opinion, the best running back in the nation. 3 - USC Definitely a top program once again, but they haven't accomplished nearly what Auburn & OU have this year. 4 - Miami After an amazing comeback vs. FSU, the Canes have been quiet about winning, but winning nonetheless. 5 - Purdue Kyle Orton is my man for the Heisman. Purdue not only has one of the best offenses in the nation, but also has a defense that, when they show up, can shut any team down. People are now predicting Purdue to go to the Rose Bowl, but don't count them out of the BCS title game. 6 - Virginia Albeit against weak opponents, the Cavs have been very impressive. A few years back the Cavs were ranked in the top 10 with a 5-0 record.... then they played FSU. Guess what? UVa is 5-0 and play FSU this week. 7 - Wisconsin Badgers are 6-0 and just trounced Ohio St. Who TROUNCES the Buckeyes????? 8 - Oklahoma St. No one gives the Cowboys credit. This is the only team on OU's remaining schedule that has a chance to beat the Sooners. 9 - Cal Cal is almost there..... almost. Jeff Tedford is the best coach in the PAC 10. 10 - Utah The best of the so-called "BCS Buster" teams. QB Alex Smith is exciting to watch. 11 - Florida St. If QB Wyatt Sexton had started from the start of the season, FSU might be #1. 12 - Texas I still think UT has its best team since the days of Major Applewhite. They need to put OU behind them and concentrate on Tech and A&M. They still have a shot at an at-large BCS berth. 13 - Tennessee I thought the Vols were going to have a sub-par (by Fulmer's standards) season, but they redeemed themselves under the leadership of freshman Q?B Derek Ainge against Georgia. 14 - Michigan This is another solid Michigan team. Battle for the Big 10 Championship on October 23rd... Michigan vs. Purdue. 15 - Arizona St. The Sun Devils are often forgotten amongst USC & Cal, but (The Real) ASU is 5-0. Andrew Walter, not Matt Leinart, is the best QB in the PAC 10. 16 - Georgia Watch the Georgia's progression from playing South Carolina to playing LSU to playing Tennessee. Oh wait, there's no progression, there's inconsistency. 17 - LSU LSU showed that they had some pride last week vs. Florida. LSU's only losses are to Auburn & Georgia, but they are too inconsistent to put any higher than this. 18- Texas A&M A&M has had a couple big wins against traditionally proud programs (Clemson & K-St.). They also shut out an improving Wyoming team. 19- Boise St. Must be the system; Boise St. is going for another 10-win season. 20 - Louisvlle We'll see just how good the Cards are this week vs. Miami on Thursday. 21 - Virginia Tech 4-2 isn't an amazing record, but they Hokies are much better than that. They played USC & NC St. to the last minute and beat previously 7th ranked West Virginia & Wake Forest. They also beat Western Michigan & Duke by a combined score of 104-17. 22 - Texas Tech Tech is an anomaly. One week they lose to New Mexico, the next they nearly lose to Kansas. Then they give OU a game and beat NEBRASKA 77-10. They put up 77 points on the Blackshirt D of NEBRASKA! 23 - Florida Florida has loads of talent, but that doesn't do much good when you don't have good coaching. www.fireronzook.com 24 - UCLA UCLA's only loss has come at the hands of Oklahoma St. UCLA could cause some trouble in the PAC 10 race when all is said & done. 25 - Southern Mississippi USM beat Nebraska IN Lincoln. Why is nobody talking about the Golden Eagles in the "BCS Buster" talks? If USM runs the table, which would include beating a very good Cal team, they should be given a BCS at-large berth. Waiting List: Alabama, West Virginia, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Ohio St., Iowa, Missouri, Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC St., Wyoming, UConn, Navy |
