| Rebirth Of An Empire I by Sslash |
| The Swamp of No Hope was quiet at this time of night. Mooshi was on his way back from hunting Froglok Bounders when he stumbled across another area of fallen pillars and statues. Kunark was full of abandoned ruins from a time when, Mooshi had always reasoned, the Iksar race once ruled Norrath. He also believed the stories that told of how the Iksar were the original race on Norrath. Being a warrior, he was certain that the elders would never lie about such a hing. Mooshi was about to run to the city, when a broken area on one of the pillars caught his attention. He slowly walked towards it, peering inside, as best he could. He reached inside and felt a small clay pot and gently pulled it out of the opening. When Mooshi got a look at it, his blood began to race. It was a parchment jar with pictoglyphs that matched those from the ancient time. His bretheren would be pleased when they saw this. Mooshi opened his rhino hide backpack and slid it inside. Then he made haste to meet with his friends. This could be the key to opening the past. The rebirth of the Reptilian Empire. Myshii sat at a table in the shaman's guild writing text from a piece of ancient parchment. Pictolyphs were his specialty. He studied all he could find and catalogued them for further research. The shaman was alone in the guild library with parchment, paper, and writing tools. As he was finishing a page, the door creaked open. Myshii set his quill down and turned around to stretch out the night's pains. Walking in with a snack of earthworm munch and bloodwater, was his partner, Sslash. Sslash was a monk. He was skilled in many things such as tailoring, blacksmithing, and his favorite pastime was brewing. Not a devoutly religious monk by any means, but he could preach anyone into shame at the drop of a skullcap. Another oddity was how he mastered two-haded blunt. Most monks used hand to hand combat, but Sslash preffered two morning stars to do his bidding. "I was on my way from the monk guild when I got hungry," Sslash said, "and I thought you could use a little something too." "As long as you got it plain," Myshii replied, "you know I don't like all those sauces on it." "Yes yes, it is plain." Myshii accepted the tray and went to a small empty table off to the side of the room. He motioned Sslash to one of the empty chairs across from him. The monk walked to the chair, but before he sat down, he pulled a book from his backpack and sat it down on the table next to the tray, then sat in the seat. "This is the book you needed, I got it from the historian. Sslash leaned forward. "He told me that people were uneasy with our research. They like how things are now and would rather not be attached to a central authority." "Why would our research mean a reversion to the old ways," Myshii quizzed. "They just don't see the big picture." "Well, regardless. I don't plan on quitting , now that we are so close." Sslash tilted his head. He heard footsteps coming down the hall. "Sounds like a visitor." They both arose from their chairs and prepared for an attack. The door opened normally and a figure clad in rhino hide armor strode in. "Great, you both are here." Mooshi stated. He noticed the fighting stances relaxing at the sight of him. "I have found another parchment jar. This one looks like the final piece of the puzzle!" To be continued... |
