| Blood For Blood by Thant |

| Thant Shadowatcher snarled as pain rippled through his body. He had underestimated the Burynai's ability to fend off his deadly skeletal pet and had paid a heavy toll. His left hip was covered in blood, a deep gash threatening to end his life, and he now fled through the mountain pass. If all went well he would soon be far from the Frontier Mountains and away from his hunter. Looking into his belt pouch Thant noticed he only had a few bone chips left. Better to summon a defender now than to be caught off guard...again. Why flee when I can have my vengeance? "I had bessst hurry, my life fluid will leave an easssy trail to follow" growled Thant to himself. Thant then began casting his spell, tossing the bones on the ground nearby. A skeletal creature rose from the hard earth, it's eye sockets now filled with an unearthly red gleam that could penetrate the very soul. "What is...your wish...master?" asked the skeleton. "Ssstand here and await the wretched fur ballsss arrival! Then, rip out itsss heart!" commanded Thant with great anger. "I beg...forgiveness master, but what is a...fur ball?" replied the skeleton. With barely contained rage Thant glared at his guardian and answered "A damned creature called a Burynai! You'll know itsss the right one when you sssee itsss numerousss woundsss causssed by my lassst pet. Do not fail me like the other did!" Nodding the Skeleton replied "As you...wish master" Smiling to himself, Thant hid behind a large boulder off to the side and kept a watchful eye down the pass. He could smell the burynai getting closer and hungered now for the life force needed to heal his soon to be fatal wound. Predictable. The Burynai was following the trail of blood left by the wound in Thant' hip. Looking up it saw the skeleton, already walking towards it at a steady pace. Growling the Burynai lunged towards the skeletal guard. Both were locked in hand to hand combat but the skeleton had the upper hand, being uninjured. The Burynai, realizing it was hopeless, turned to flee. "Enough!" shouted Thant. "Sorry master...calming down" said the skeleton. The Burynai looked back to see it's former victim, still bleeding from his wound, but walking steadily towards it. This injured even the Burynai would stand no chance, but Thant did not want to rip the Burynai apart, oh no. He had greater plans. Once Thant began casting a spell, the Burynai looked terrified and ran as quickly as it could. But it stopped. Skeletal hands now grabbed it's legs, preventing the Burynai from escaping Thant's grip. Frantically clawing at the hands, the Burynai barely noticed Thant standing five feet away, grinning. Whimpering, the Burynai begged for mercy, almost in tears. "Mercy? Why ssshow mercy to an inferior creature like you?" snarled Thant "You ssshouldn't have followed me. But I mussst thank you though. Thisss wound would have killed me long before I reached the Empire if you had not...volunteered...to give me a sssmall amount of your life essssence to heal thisss wound. I would mossst likely have died, not too far from here." Holding up his claws, Thant began casting a spell. The Burnai was now almost ripping its own legs off trying to escape, squealing with fear. Grinning once again, Thant looked down at the Burynai. "Time to enter a whole new world, frail one. A world of PAIN!" |
