I was born on Oct. 3, 1933 in Bayonne, NJ. I married a Peruvian guy named Pablo Caballero and moved to L.A. in 1960. We had 3 children: Sheri, Grace and Paul. I am probably the only woman on Earth who received her Bachelor's in Computer Science at age 44 and then worked in the computer industry for 30 years!

I left this Earth on Christmas Day, 2005. I've rejoined Pablo and I am at peace. Please don't mourn for me; it's not what I would have wanted. I'd like to be remembered as a pioneer who took on challenges as they came, and loved to play games and laugh.

A Message from Sheri Ellis:

My mom's favorite charity was the Computer Science department at Cal State Fullerton, where she hoped to help other women get into a field which is mostly men, especially women making a late return to college. Here is their website: http://www.fullerton.edu/ecs/index2.htm Did you know she was 50 years old when she got her B.S. in Computer Science in 1983? and went on to spend 20+ years in the field? I've researched the Guiness Book of World Records, and it's a first! So I'm going to get her into it. She would've probably hated it, but I think she deserves some recognition for it!

I'm asking folks who can't come to the memorial event on Saturday, January 7th, to play cards in tribute. I know she would have loved that. The memorial will be casual and fairly unstructured and we are encouraging folks to play cards, because she would have wanted it that way. And no black— the decorations are pink roses, her favorite, and some maroon.
