Whorling

Berries, berries, berries. Everywhere. And all of them big, plump, juicy, ripe. However, you'd already stuffed yourself and the sight of more was beginning to make you nauseous.

Or, maybe it isn't the sight of them, but the taste. What is in those things? You swallow hard as your stomach complains, and involuntarily sit, trying to regain your balance and bearings.

Augh... The world is wobbly, flopping about. The trees are bending into odd shapes around you. Berries are dropping off the trees... Turning into things, weird shapes, walking about...

You welcome dreamless, painless sleep.

"Get off," you mutter, swatting at your stomach - no, rather at the heavy paws on your stomach. But as soon as one would lift, another would slam down in its place. Or maybe it was the same one coming back. Groaning, you make use of your other hand by prying your eye open, blearily trying to make out where you are.

Something pink. Purple. Pink. In your face. No, wait, it's blue. All three of them, together. Multicolored face. Three faces. Two. Urgh. You pry your other eye open - and stare.

A small, draconic head turns, much like a bird, to look you in the eye. Its iris is a startling green amidst a berry-colored (ugh) body, and the silver horn at the rear of its head blinds you with reflected light. Gasping, you lurch up and shield your eyes, trying to regain some clear sight.

As your eyes readjust to the darkening orchard, you wish your mind would do the same, for you're almost convinced that you see another creature beside the first. A small purplish creature that's nothing like you've ever seen.

The small creature growls at you, looking almost cute. Immediately after, the bigger, horned dragon-thing makes a gesture similar to rolling its eyes and swipes the other out into a stray bush with a forepaw. With an angry cry, the abused animal leaps out of the plant with spread wings and lands on its fellow's back, paws scrabbling for a hold in the scales.

Then, with no warning, a thin blue shape snakes out the sky and snaps the small animal up in its jaws. You stare in astonishment as the little thing just sighs in defeat and reprimandingly smacks the blue shape with its tail. The blue thing flaps its six wings and flies out of sight.

You turn back to the ground to catch the last of the third creature's tail disappearing amongst the trees. With everything done and over - and your stomach healthy again, as well - you turn back and head for home amidst the fading light of the berry orchard.
