Raveen Kat
Beside the moon that glitters on the lake's gentle surface, you sit and slowly draw your finger back and forth along the water. The night is cold but pleasant, and a chill was to be expected anyway. Besides, it adds to the sense of solitude you'd come to enjoy under the stars.
Above you, a sound of strong wings sifting through the air alerts all that some being has arrived. At first, you don't turn your head; it could hardly be something dangerous on such a pleasant night, and you're enjoying yourself just sitting. It's only after a moment that your leisure allows you a glance to the side, where a blue and yellow raveen kat is just now settling his wings.

The kat stretches his legs and yawns in a decidedly feline manner before shaking himself and padding over to you. With a greeting grin, he says, "I can hardly believe you're nocturnal," and invites himself to a seat beside you.
Peeking another glance at him, you see his eyes following your finger in the water; you hastily remove it, substituting instead conversation for entertainment. Not knowing what he wants, you shrug and neglect to respond.
You can almost feel him raise a brow at your silence, and hear a swish of his tail behind you. He's obviously curious about you, and expresses his thoughts with the question, "What're you out here for?" This time you can tell he expects an answer.
You look back at him and swing your legs around to face him head-on. In a sense, anyway; he's decidedly taller than you when you're sitting. Even intimidated, however, you do respond - and fairly bravely, you might add later when reflecting upon the scene. "Nothing," you say. "Enjoying the night, looking around. ...Same as you, I suppose?"
The kat laughs. "Yes, I suppose so. 'I' being Ginsuuh, resident raveen kat. Actually there's more to my being here; I just came back from the Ice Plains - what's left of them - and I'm looking for some rest before I go back tomorrow. I live about a mile off through the forest - I just land here because it's the closest clearing where I can get through the canopy."
"You go to the Ice Plains?" you ask in surprise, completely ignoring the rest of his sentence. "I mean, of course you've been there, it being your homeland, but isn't it sorta dangerous? And all... messed... and stuff...?" You fade out as you wonder if he'll take offense at your words.
Fortunately, Ginsuuh doesn't seem to; he simply shrugs. "Stuff's happening, but where else should I go if I wish to associate with my kind? Besides, some day I might even be in the right place at the right time... It's not in my nature to just sit and watch my world in turmoil." The kat looks up to the stars and searches them with his eyes for a moment. Then, he stands and turns. "Anyway, I've got a bit of a jog ahead of me; maybe we'll meet again some time."
You nod and utter "Bye" under your breath, then watch as he lopes away.
