Racism, Anti-Semitism and the Struggle for Tolerance (Prof. D. Keogh, Dr D Scully & Dr. G Smith) This module will have two main components. Firstly, an examination of racism and the movement for civil rights in the United States. Secondly, anti-Semitism in Europe since the middle ages, but with particular reference to the modern era and to the Holocaust. Due attention will be paid to the important historiographical and methodological issues arising from the study of these two topics.

HI3065 Second World War (Dr G. Roberts / Mr M. Cosgrave) Topics covered will include the military history of the war; developments in military technology and organisation during the war; wartime diplomacy and international relations; the impact of the war on the domestic politics, economy and society of selected countries; resistance struggles in occupied countries; the Holocaust.
