Holocaust Hex???

yes, I am a jew. If that makes me unfit to speak about the Jewish Holocaust, you need not read further. I am also an ex-Israeli. I left Israel in July 2001 becuase I did not want to be part of the Israeli occupation and I felt powerless to stop it. I no longer related to many of my friends and some of my family. Perhaps I should have stayed and fought against Israel, but I left.
Now I am an activist in alternative media in British Clumbia, Canada. I am the Executive Director (volunteer) of a non-profit Community-Based Campus radio station.
I also co-host an alternative political talk show called "Elephant Talk" every Saturday 10am-noon local time. You can check it out at www.chly.fm
I have no problem criticising Israel or Jews when the occasion calls for it. And I do so often. Incidentaly, my common law spouse is not Jewish.
that's just a bit of background.
I also believe that Israel and we jews have taken the Holocaust and misused it to justify oppression commited by us on the Palestinians, and violations of UN resolutions and violations of basic human rights, perhaps even crimes against humanity in the occupied territories.
It seems that with more and more people waking up to the realities of media manipulation by the power structure, some people will now believe anything. The bigger the suggested lie, the more people will believe it. And what bigger lie can there be than the Holocaust, right?
There are many good things about the internet, but one of the problems with it and our information age, is that we know very little about very many things. The internet allows us to have a taste of this issue and dabble in that one. We feel we are up to speed on what's going on in Chiapas because we read two articles on an alternative news website...
Israel is acting criminally in the occupied territories and must be stopped! Does this mean jews should be assaulted in the streets of France? Aparently it does to some. Some people take Israel's criminality to justify burning synagogues. Are you one of them? Can you do that and claim you are a peace activist wanting peace in the middle east?
Israel repeatedly calls upon it's "friend" the USA to defend it at the UN with it's veto power. Does this mean the holocaust didn't happen? Apparently it does to some and in the current atmosphere of conspiracies, many of which turn out to be true, The next big one is that there were no gas chambers and no ovens in WWII.
Problem is, where did Auschvitz (sp?) come from? What about Majdanek? What about living survivours (Jewish, Roma, gays, labour activists and others) who came out of these death camps and gave testimonies about working there cleaning out the bodies after they were gassed or piling them into the furnaces?
What about plain low ranking allied soldiers who liberated the death camps and reported the existance of furnaces with numan remains and of gas chambers disguised as showers and stock piles of cyclon B, the poison used to kill those who went in to the "showers"?
I suppose we can say all these people were hypnotised. I suppose we can say they all know the truth and were lying. We can say that the films were doctored, or taken in Hollywood by the Jewish movie moguls.
I went to Poland in 1989 and went to the death camps. I saw the mounds of ashes with human remains. I saw the piles of clothes, suitcases, shoes etc. I met old people who described what they went through. One of them worked piling the bodies into the furnaces. One of them saw her father bludgeoned to death by a German soldier in Auschvitz. I suppose it's easy for those who believe it's all a hoax to say these people were lying. Maybe you even believe that the furnaces and gas chambers were built by jews in Poland? that the cyclon B canisters were planted there.
Problem is, the Nazis were very organized and systematic. There are documents describing how much gold was taken out of teeth of people who burned. There is documentation of every last shoe taken from a child before he was put into the "showers" to be gassed.
The good thing for the holocaust denyers is that the survivours are dying and soon there will be none left alive. Perhaps in a few years someone will burn or bomb the old death camps making it even harder to imangine what happened there and easier to imagine it was all a lie.
When I grew up in Israel we had a project to research our family lines. Of my classmates who came from European origins, most had whole braches missing. Relatives who did not survive WWII. People who were seen boarding trains to these death camps and some were even seen at the death camps by people who made it out at the end of the war. Where did these people go? Whole villages that existed in 1929 and were gone by 1945.
To truely believe that this was all a hoax, that there were no death camps, no gas chambers, no furnaces, would mean that hundreds of thousands (if not millions)of people are deliberately lying in their testimonies. Not just jews. There are Polish people who saw the smoke stacks that never stoppes emitting smoke. There were Ukrainians who saw trains go full to the camps and return empty day and night. there are Jews, Roma, gays, handicapped people, labour activists who have given testimonies. There are American, Canadian and English soldiers who saw the camps with their own eyes at liberation. There are buildings in a few sites in Poland with furnaces and gas chambers. There are documents written by the Nazis about the Vanse accord ("the final solution to the problem of the Jews of Europe"). All this evidence is lies?
I would suggest that this can only work when you listen to a holocaust denyer and never go and see for yourself. I suggest that you go to Poland and visit the site of Auschvitz, visit Majdanek. Look at the thousands (literally) of photographs, the footage of the camps. Perhaps even rent a documentary about it. There are several. Ofcourse movies can be doctored, and so can photos. But you can still talk to people, who are old and about to die and see their arms tatooed with serial numbers (like cattle) and hear their atrocious stories. You can still talk to their children about their parents' nightmares and phobias.
If millions of people can be orchastrated to deliberately lie, then we might as well give up. Perhaps another world is not possible.
Don't jump on this bandwagon that it's all the jews' fault. Jews are to blame for everything. Jews run the world, Jews lie and steal and cheat. Jews own all the banks, all the big corporations. Everything bad in the world is a Jewish conspiracy. Aren't you tired of this old story? What about the atrocities commited by England in it's colonial endevours. How about Holland, France, Spain? What about the extermination of Native Americans and Canadians and the residential schools? What about the Holocaust of the Armenians? What about the Hootoos and the Tootsies? What about the civil war in the Congo? What about the conquerors of Latin America and the way they have and are destroying indeginous people and cultures?
The Holocaust of the Jews is not alone. The Jews and Israel do not have a monopoly on suffering and they must certainly not use WWII as a justification to the crimes Israel is committing against the Palestinians. But to paint Israel as the worse nation on the planet, or the only one committing crimes against another nation, does smack of unfair politics, maybe even the old racist notions that crept up in the 20s and 30s in Europe.
If you read indymedia regularly you'll see all the other places in the world where the state is oppressing people using ruthless violence. Why is it that Israel is always in the news, while we never hear about the Congo? While we never hear about the Residential Schools of Canada? While we rarely hear about all the other places where people are suffering under unfair criminal policies of the strong against the weak?
We must fight oppression wherever it reigns and we do not need to spread stories about the Holocaust being false. The truth about Israel and the Palestinians is bad enough, without mixing anti Jewish sentiments into it.
Use your critical thinking when you listen to radicals and alternative speakers as well as when you listen to main stream media. The fact that someone gets published on Indymedia, does not automatically render them credible (myself included).
I'll stop here,
