| "JayCee Goes to the Park" is the first release of a book series. JayCee, the lead character, is a bright, young African-American boy who shares the feelings and fears of his young readers. In the story, JayCee learns the consequences of telling a lie and then, telling the truth. A journal in the back of the book reiterates the purpose. His diverse friends represent different ethnic backgrounds. Key literary concepts were incorporated during product development: Phonological awareness, Interpretation of Literary Elements (the character and illustrations), Clarification of the Purpose, Identification with Character. Educators are responding to "JayCee Goes to the Park", saying it is "A strong tool for the classroom". Through books, supplemental products and an upcoming interactive webpage, schools have a range of materials to use. Link will soon be available. The book was most recently purchased by Metro Nashville Public Schools and received the following review: "JayCee Goes to the Park" is a wonderfully written book that exposes the real life consequences of being dishonest. "Jaycee's character is well developed which makes it easy for young learners to relate to. The book's illustrations practically make the characters in the book come to life. Overall the book's excellent quality has me eager to read more from this dynamic writer, Renuka Christoph." Gilda T.
