| Evaluating Web Pages: A WebQuest | |||||
| The purpose of this WebQuest is for you to gain some experience rating websites in terms of their reliability and credibility. Because the Internet has no editorial oversight committee that verifies the reliability and accuracy of materials published online, it is up to you to determine whether a website is credible enough to be cited in your Sophomore Essay. Published materials, generally speaking, are more accurate and credible because they have been edited and have been chosen for publication by a publishing company whose reputation is on the line. | |||||

| Write your name and your partner's name on the Website Evaluation Chart. | |||||
| Study all three of the following websites on the tobacco industry listed below: After examining each website, fill in the chart by rating the website in each of the four categories. | |||||
| Site #1: American Lung Association (Tobacco Control Section) | |||||
| Site #2: Smoking from All Sides | |||||
| Site #3: Big Drug's Nicotine War | |||||
| When you are finished rating the websites, complete the chart by briefly explaining why you rated the best and the worst sites the way you did.
