Instrument Panel Wiring (Mar 8, 2004)

For the record, Jodie installed all the instruments last weekend as well as put in all the nuts and bolts that attach the canopy to the frame. That was a huge help. I started wiring the panel this weekend. There was more to do than I thought but still, all of this only took a day to do.

Here's the front of the panel. The hole in the top middle (where the attitude indicator would go) is waiting for the Dynon electronic gyroscope. I need to wire its harness before I put it in. Other than that, there are two open spots (one to the right of the master switch and one under the Dynon hole) for an autopilot and a VOR indicator. I'll add those later after I fly the plane a bit and figure out if I need them. The gaping rectangular hole in the middle is for the radio and transponder.

I bought another set of brake pedals this week and installed them in case I ever end up using the plane to train other people. I also cut insulation for the firewall and closed-cell foam soundproofing for the floor.

I've got both sticks in permanently now as well as the manual aileron trim (handle in the middle between the seats.) The fuel selector is in for good too.

It was 60 degrees here today so I had the door open most of the day. The hangar still feels pretty full with all the parts around. It'll be nice when they're all attached together.
