Things move along a lot faster when you work everyday. Today I worked on the last step of fitting the airbox to the cowling. The airbox holds the air filter below the carburetor and has a trap door with a control cable for applying carb heat. It's behind the airscoop in this picture inside the cowling. I layed up some fiberglass today to make a smooth transition from the scoop to the airbox. The duct tape keeps the fiberglass from sticking to the cowling. I'll attach the new inner scoop to the inside of the cowling.
Yesterday, my dad and I put the tail on for good. My dad riveted the plastic tips on the horizontal and vertical stabilizers and worked on fitting the wingtips to the wings.
Here's a shot of the whole plane with the tail and cowling on. All of the fastners are complete in the cowling. All that remains to do on the cowling is the oil door for checking the oil level.
