The Extensions Duo: Tom Beyer and René Mogensen
This duo performes orginal works for saxophones and percussion, and often with the addition of electronics electroacoustic sound. Much of the repertoire involved improvisation, and compositions by René, as well as collaborative compositions. Drawing inspiration both from folk music, electroacoustic sound art, American jazz, and western art music, the works of the Extensions duo cover much musical territory. |

| The New York - Pisa Connection project with the American clarinettist Dr. Esther Lamneck, and other musicians including multi-instrumentalist Eduardo Ricci, guitarist Eugenio Sanna, bassist Corrado Cannonicci from Italy. This project embraces european free improvisation and italian and hungarian folk music influences, along with interactive electroacoustics.
A cd of the project has been recorded, awaiting release. |

| Puzzlement and the Art of Comedy, A War Scene, Doorways to Bourbon Street, Interaction Solo , and Explorations, are a series of scores by Mogensen using an original graphic notation system that presents the musicians with a formal design of timbres and rhythms that demand improvisation within a composed framework to produce unique performances of a identifiable piece of music.
Concert footage from Pisa Estate festival of the premiere of Mogensen's Puzzlement and the Art of Comedy was included on Cantiere, Pisa, Lulio 1996 for Italian televion - copy of the video available from New York University's graduate music program.
