| We confess we are acting addicts. Our need for a theatrical fix has turned into a passionate pursuit - in more ways than one. Tom and I started Renegade Productions in October, 2001 and our first stage production comes to the stage on January 17, 18 and 19, 2002, in Chatham, Ontario at the Kiwanis Theatre, Chatham Cultural Centre. The production is Norm Foster's "the Melville Boys". This endeavour came about for many different reasons such as the lack of theatre in the Chatham Kent area. There are currently 2 community theatre companies which produce a total of 5 shows a year in a community of over 100,000. Not nearly enough theatre for the amount of actors and theatre lovers. The aim of our production company is not to compete with community theatre but to provide an extra venue for actors. It is also our goal to produce professional level theatre with quality actors in the area. |
| Staging works by Canadian playwrights is a goal we have. We cannot overlook the importance of promoting Canadian content. Norm Foster is an obvious choice for our first production. His work is well known and loved in Canada and the United States. But there is so much out there and we would love to be a part of introducing new Canadian talent here to the Chatham-Kent area. The joy we get from acting - together or separately - cannot be rivaled. Deciding to mount a production in the area started as a simple "I wish" discussion to actually finding a show, finding quality actors and investing our savings into this production. The future is limitless and we see bigger and better things! We have just recently purchased video equipment, and are now working on producing quality wedding, how-to, event and business video's. We hope to soon produce a dv feature film, it all takes time and we have many talented people working with us. Stayed tuned for more. |
