I Don't Know

<BGSOUND src="#" loop-infinite> I'm not quite sure
How to make it through the night
Without the tears
I've come to know so well.

It seems they never leave,
They stay behind my eyes
Ready to escape,
For all the world to see.

The weight of the world is on my chest;
It lays over my heart
And make it hard to breathe.
It, too, never leaves.

I want to believe in God
And bigger and better things
That He has a plan
And He will lead me to my place.

But far too often I lose hope
Wandering aimlessly in the dark
Burned by the pain in my heart,
And chilled by the darkness in my soul.

And so I wait, here alone
As life passes me by
Waiting, hoping for a miracle
And time to heal my wounds.

But can I ever be healed?
Do I have a chance at normal again?
Is there anything left?
I'm not quite sure.

~Walk Away Renee~
Recorded by The Left Banke

And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain I chose to hide

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me though they're so small

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame
